..I do lots on the garden. My garden is my love, I have both time and money enough to devote myself to making a vision into earth and stone. There are 12 areas of concern, each aligned with a zodiac principle, and each having its own style and evolutionary aspect. Aries is the first impression - the entrance garden is part of that, Taurus is the meadow, planted with fruit trees, Leo is the overall wow! factor, the total commitment to beauty for its own sake and at a level that impresses visitors with a sense of abundance, extravagance even, and radiant colour...and so on.
One major project (Capricorn) this year is to build a stone hut in a traditional style. There will be room enough for a bed, a seat and a chimney...comfy living for a hermit, or retreatant. Also I have a dome. Not yet erected but I have all the bits for a May time start up. Then I will have what I need to invite Woofers who will work the garden according to their own skills and creativity. They will possibly also be interested in Astrology, Sufism and chanting...and may come back another time to get deeper into it all.
UPN, Unicorn Peace Network, will widen its brief specifically to incorporate refugee support, and I shall build up a fund to underwrite against the risk of Russia invasion into Lithuania and Latvia, where I have students who may need a place of refuge, which Emerald Cottage will be for them. Funds could easily exceed this specific purpose, and I would build liaisons with various others with a similar remit - to soften the hard edges of forced, sudden relocation - and apply my excess earnings to that cause.
For me the day to day of this touristic town is fascinating. In the summer months it is Tinsel Town and everyone is nice because all the visitors are having a good time and spending money - and in the winter all the longtermers come out of their hiding places and reclaim their favourite seats in the pubs. I prefer winter in one way, but I don't get out into the garden enough and so I like the summer warmth for that. I joined in with various things - drum circle, jamming group and lately theatre (first ever stage performance in Cork!) are what takes up my evenings to some extent and its easy to be included in a social set here - mine's the musicians. You ask about my writing - I did make serious progress in writing a novel, enough to know that I can do that but, not having found the exact story I want to tell, I have postponed the project until I do. I have written a self-help book Path to Happiness, and will one day finish my Zodiac Pocketbook.
