Sir David Attenborough Sabian Symbols
Sir David Frederick Attenborough OM CH CVO CBE FRS FLS FZS FSA FRSGS
Most people have see David Attenborough on TV presenting natural history programmes that have brought a much deeper appreciation of plants, creatures and environments on our Blue Planet. He was once in charge of the TV station BBC 2 and has received many awards for these programmes and more besides. When the UK tried to determine who was thought to be the greatest Briton ever, Attenborough featured among the nominations.
He focused his later work more and more on the impact of human society on Nature and became very vocal in his support of environmental causes, for example BirdLife, WWF and other agencies in UK and around the world. He even had a boat named after him: what was to be Boaty McBoatface , a research vessel owned by the Natural Environment Research Council and operated by the British Antarctic Survey.
Extracts from his Sabian Symbols
Sun at Taurus 17
Although, due to uncertainty about his time of birth, his Sun could theoretically be Taurus 18, the fit for Taurus 17 is much better. "Life is a struggle between external and internal opposing forces. In seeking further and further clarification of a newly-discovered truth, we are required to develop warrior qualities and fight the real forces of ignorance, domination and greed".
Mercury at Aries 23
THE RICH POTENTIAL OF EVERY MOMENT AND SITUATION
Existence is not sterile; it is brimming with a polarised life-force that cannot fail to create new life.
Venus at Aries 2
We see how silly is our prideful self-love and, within the context of the greater picture, how irrelevant are our personal thoughts and feelings. It is a great leap forward on the path to realisation when we release self-importance.
Saturn at Scorpio 24
A prophet or teacher receives recognition for their intellectual or spiritual attainment as much by responding to material concerns as heavenly. Many a brilliant concept or teaching has been wastefully cast on deaf ears – as seeds on stony ground.
Pluto at Cancer 13
To claim our destiny and fulfil our potential we must act strongly upon the world, which wants to resist us
To have four planets that together make a cross is very unusual in astrology, and indicates a life of struggle. Some people cannot cope with this and find life just too much, whereas others find a way to manage, force themselves to overcome difficulties, and thereby achieve great things. Attenborough has an opposition between Saturn and his Sun - already very challenging indeed! - and these are squared by an opposition between Jupiter and Neptune.
His South Node at Capricorn 19, suggestive of his major asset in pursuing a spiritual path, is described: PREMATURE RESPONSIBILITY: Taking on heavy burdens will accelerate our process of growth yet needs to be carefully managed to avoid exhaustion.
