About SabiansThe SABIAN people existed as a tribe early enough to be recorded several times in the Holy Quran as 'people of the book' - having a spiritual connection with Abraham, as do Muslims and Christians. Little else is known of them, except that their most celebrated member was John the Baptist.
If we find that Sabian Symbols, which came from Elsie Wheeler, are meaningful, then we must accept that their proposed original source, The Sabians, is legitimate, because that information also came from Wheeler's psychic ability. About Mystery PlaysMystery plays allow Spirit to enter the process, and bring wisdom though the operation of what is commonly called channelling. The storyline can operate on many levels and is structured so to allow a particular spiritual teaching to be made clearer. Very often some of the characters are archetypal - embodiments of elements or other subtle forces.
The ProcessThe first stage is to arrive at a profound understanding of the essential wisdom of one of the Sabian Expressions by seeing the interplay between, and evolution though, its five component Sabain degrees. Then a scenario is crafted that not only carries along the larger, epic story, but also underlines the particular wisdom of the Expression. This is then acted out by players who all know what the deepest message is and can tune in to whatever higher, mystical inspiration unfolds.
Sabian ExpressionsDane Rudhyar saw that each zodiac sign has its own inner complexity, and that we better understand the whole sign by studying the six batches of five degrees, which, in this work, are called Expressions. Aries, for example, has many qualities, the most prominent of which are described by its six Expressions: Emergence, Drive, Honour, Attainment, Progression, and Proficiency.
In any batch of five degrees, the 1st of the batch establishes a theme or direction; the 2nd contrasts or refutes that, and the 3rd shows how to reconcile the first two. The 4th shows a technique or method to achieve the result, and the 5th can be seen as a stepping stone towards the next Expression. |
Sabian BaptistJohn the BaptistChrist had to be recognised before it was possible to present the message of Christ Consciousness. Therefore John the Baptist was a crucial factor in the whole story of Jesus - since how could Christ's impact exist if not for there being the first to show recognition - as was Baptist?
John the Baptist was the distillation of 10000 years of Sabian evolution on Earth. As above, so below - as without so within - there is here a metaphor for the inner process we each have to go through in order to become realised, the distillation of millennia of personal development. Historically Baptist, having completed his life mission, was assassinated because the wife of Herod misused the sensuality of her daughter's dancing to manipulate her husband into an abuse of power. The metaphor here is that we are in constant danger of the misuse of our sensuality, and thereby the corruption of our sacred ability to awaken Christ Consciousness within ourselves. |
