MEANING OF A SABIAN SYMBOL
Each of the 360 symbols and explanations can be seen as a life mystery. Each of us will have our own personal take on it, and this can be as valid as any attempt the author makes to give objective meaning. It all depends on how capable you are at opening the subtle aspect of mind to unveil the mystery. It’s worth acknowledging two things – first, that intuition only deepens as you trust it, and second, that intuition is never entirely trustworthy. That’s how it is with the mysteries – they are in the end unknowable, at least not definitively and never as an objective, measured truth.
Sabian Symbols are images or metaphors, clairvoyantly derived by Elsie Wheeler in 1925, which were used by Marc Edmund Jones to trigger his understanding of each one of the 360 degrees of the zodiac separately. The first degree of the zodiac, Aries 0 to 1, is called “Seal Embraces Woman Rising from the Waters”, and those with the sun or another planet in this degree may find special importance in the image and offered interpretation. However, all of us can find something of relevance in each of the degrees, since at some level all wisdom is universal and therefore shared by us all.

Marc EDMUND Jones
Dr. Marc Edmund Jones was known as the Dean of Astrology in America for a while, having contributed a new dimension to the subject in his Sabian Symbols. Said to be "the best teacher of astrology this country ever produced", Jones was a tireless practitioner, lecturer, and teacher, an exemplar around the world of living astrology for nearly seventy years. He was a philosopher of astrology, an occult astrologer who, in addition to Sabian Symbols, brought esoteric methods of insight and innovative technique to bear upon the field in a way that no one had done before or has done since.
The organisation he founded in 1923 has a website with lots of information about him and his work: Sabian Assembly
