Sabian AlchemyThere are 7 definite steps to go through, the most important of which is the question itself.
1. DETERMINE A CLEAR, SPECIFIC QUESTION
The first step is the most important. The possibility of finding an answer to any life question is completely dependent upon structuring the question specifically and unambiguously. The client will always be somewhat imperfect in their clarity, and often guarded, so we need to use skill and persistence until the best possible, most appropriate, question is created. (Read More) 2. ASSIGN ONE OF THE 7 INNER PLANETS We can eliminate several of the 7 planets then try intuitively to find the closest fit between question and keywords associated with the rest. Discuss the interpretation of the planet when seen in the horoscope, with houses and aspects considered. You can create your own list of keywords, for example, Saturn: sorry | conscience | orderliness | society; Jupiter: please | growth | optimism | enjoyment; Mars: goodbye | dynamism | thrust | expression; Venus: thanks | appreciation | harmony | friends; Mercury: hello | communication |curiosity |learning; Moon: yes | comfort | security | belonging; Sun: no | command | awareness | self-definition. (Read More) 3. STUDY THE ELVEN STAR OF THE PLANET Discover the seven Sabian Symbols comprising the planet’s Elven Star and discuss them fully in the context of the given planet. Discover through careful examination the Elven Star point that signifies the greatest challenge of understanding or realisation. (Read More) 4. CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO RELATED PATHWORKINGS Ask your client intuitively to choose one of the two pathworkings that relate to the planet, and then discuss in depth why this choice is made. (Read More) 5. PROFOUND LIFE EXAMINATION Read very deeply into the client’s personal history to encourage a new level of perception that ties together their life events with the pathworking and each Elven Star point, especially the most challenging one. A pattern emerges – shown as certain difficulties or dissatisfactions that arose out of a lack of mastery in employing the planetary energy. Often a clue is to be seen when the client has a breakthrough of realisation – some unexpected gesture, exclamation or comment. 6. AFFIRMATION Affirmations are made when in a heightened level of soul consciousness, from which perspective positive statements, of what is or what is to be, are realistic representations of the highest authentic self. These are sacred, like vows, and should only be made when there is the intention to fulfil them, backed up at the deepest level of honour and commitment to Self. 7. SPIRITUAL PRACTICE Spiritual practices help us remember, and act as a regular renewal of our commitment to fulfil the affirmation. Mantra, in a sacred language, has power and must not be used casually or its power is forever lost. |

Path to HappinessSUFI BASED APPROACH TO
LIFE MANAGEMENT The meaning of life may seem a mystery beyond our grasp, yet life does have meaning and anyone can discover it. We want to know what to do and why; we want to become skilled in avoiding and solving problems; we want recognition and to have an appropriate place within our social group, to experience love, freedom, achievement and eventually, happiness.
In Sufism there are 7 distinct aspects of life to consider in order to realise our full potential for peace and happiness. These seven ‘planes of consciousness’ are studied here. We look at the way that our relationships and scenarios mirror our inner condition, and importantly how to make attitudinal changes inwardly that create the results we want in the outer world. The QuestionIf someone has an emotional issue to process, you can be almost certain that they cannot and will not be able to ask for the help needed in exactly the right form. This is because of any of several reasons. Perhaps they are in denial, or confused, or unable to feel safe enough to disclose vulnerability, or caught in pride or perhaps they have never before had an opportunity to put feelings into words.
In the absence of the right question there can be no possibility of finding the right answer, and, mostly, people's problems exist because they have not uncovered the most helpful question to address. It takes skill and experience to help a person to find what is the key issue in their lives at the moment. We start with the assumption that beneath the surface of the declared question, lies another more pressing issue that needs attention. Indeed there are often layers and layers of convoluted difficulties to unpick in order to find the key point. The key is that which typically unlocks dark secrets, and yet the same key gives access to the door that opens up to a fuller richer life. The dark secrets are stunningly mediocre, when perceived by the counsellor yet appallingly and uniquely severe when seen from the client's viewpoint. Such things as rejection, bullying, sexual abuse, abandonment, fear of anger, self-disgust and a few more such conditions make up the palette of a typical person's childhood. Our first task is to identify which of these commonplace neuroses is the deepest disturbance to our client's psychological well-being, yet to do this without deepening their investment in self-pity. Two rather surprising aspects of the healing process are worth mentioning & these are humour and boredom. While it is, of course, necessary to be sensitive, compassionate and caring as we delve deep into painful memories, it is also necessary to avoid deepening the client's prideful certainty that their suffering is more serious than others’, that it is beyond repair and that a light and happy future is a fanciful dream. Acknowledgement of the circumstances that gave rise to the issue draws it into the light of awareness, and then frequent repetition of this fact diminishes the passionate emotional grip; gentle humour furthers this process. Applied with mastery the following wisdom explains the point – "If you take your client's problem too seriously you are not taking them seriously enough!" In other words - lighten up so that they can lighten up! As the healing process unfolds the question shifts many times and, perhaps through several stages, it morphs from ‘How can find a job I enjoy?' to 'How to strengthen my boundaries?’ or 'Will I ever be loved?' to 'Which foods do I need to avoid?’ We have no idea where the refining of the question will take us, except that the first stated issue is never the last. The perfect question is the one that simply dissolves the whole issue, because it is so exactly on point, and this first stage, which is certainly the most important is perhaps even enough by itself. |
