Another way to find your Sabian Symbols

1) Visit Astro.com (Astrodienst) and enter your birth information, and receive information about your planetary positions.
2) Look for the degree of your Sun, and add 1 to the first number. For example 15° 38' Taurus, is 16th Taurus. 3) Back to this website, mouse over ‘Sabian Symbols’ in link bar, go to Taurus, and find the 16th degree, where you will read about Tenacity. 4) Study Sun and Moon first. Thinking isn’t enough; the meanings have to be felt as well. 5) Repeat for other planets. Ignore the Ascendant, unless your birth time is accurate to the exact minute. |

Wheeler, Jones and Rudhyar

Sabian Symbols are images or metaphors, clairvoyantly derived by Elsie Wheeler in 1925, which were interpreted by Marc Edmund Jones to trigger his understanding of each one of the 360 degrees of the zodiac separately and also by Dane Rudhyar to create a schematic that outlines the journey towards self-realisation.

Each of the 360 symbols and explanations can be seen as a life mystery. Each of us will have our own personal take on it, and this can be as valid as any attempt the author makes to give objective meaning. It all depends on how capable you are at opening the subtle aspect of mind to unveil the mystery.

It’s worth acknowledging two things – first, that intuition only deepens as you trust it, and second, that intuition is never entirely trustworthy. That’s how it is with the mysteries – they are in the end unknowable, at least not definitively and never as an objective, measured truth.

Dane Rudhyar (1895 –1985)Regarded with Jung as a key figure in a more psychologically sophisticated astrology, he was a classical musician, composer, artist, theosophist and philosopher. He had truly exceptional insights into Astrology and the way the Sabian Symbols can be used to outline the path to personal realisation.
