Sabian Symbols: A water sprite
This universal idea is best expressed through planets in
Capricorn 26 (25° - 26°)DANCING TO THE RHYTHM OF LIFE
We can tune in to the subtle flow of energy that interpenetrates all life and so find ourselves to be just one part of the Great Mystery "Allowing yourself to respond to feelings of the mysteries" Water links all things on Earth as it moves through its cycle of change, from ocean to cloud to rain to river - eternally. In a way our feelings do that too, as love of God, ups and downs of emotions, and love of life and all beings. What we study as occultists includes this essential life rhythm and most importantly the awareness that all things are metaphors for all other things. There is but one thing going on and we are all part of it, sounding its note and dancing its feeling-dance, so we are all connected by sharing the Source of inspiration for our own dance.

Free spirits are masters of their own experience
The symbol of a water sprite is one of restlessness, a condition that points to an exceptional, and usually intuitive, sensitiveness to the overall implications of where any course of events is leading. There is implied a high skill in avoiding drab, commonplace involvements or tedious situations of any kind. People strong in this quality are very often referred to as ‘free spirits’. In a free-minded person, the pure integrity of self asserts itself – as a protection against blind or inept participation in any existing progression of affairs that does not properly reflect their authentic expression of character. The free spirit has a knee-jerk reflex to reject any project or situation that repudiates full and free, spur-of-the-moment expression of the urge to live. Instead they will often be seen as a rebel – troublesome, eccentric and someone to be suspicious of. Such people demand every possible experience of richness in their outer reality; they develop a highly personalised form of approach to life, and free themselves from any possibility of becoming seen as a possession. Yet when this is in complete accord with the inner spiritual aspect, then it is nothing less than pure mastery of experience. And the master exudes a type of charisma, which influences all around them to allow this uncorrupted freedom of being to express itself without imposition. It calls for conscious self-idealisation in even the most unimportant and transient life functions. We will then always do what feels right, in innocence and without self-consciousness. Special moments can never be identified in advance; they arise suddenly when a life process is being triggered to another level. Since such moments occur without warning we must constantly be aware of their potential to occur. This gives a willingness to respond, and this willingness is a measure of our magick, which is exactly mirrored in the frequency, number and power of our special moments. These personality types tend towards a carefree irresponsibility, and a dislike of lasting intimacies. We need to develop serenity in order to avert the damaging effects of loneliness, sadness, disdain and despair. As serenity deepens we become able to deal with bigger challenges without loss of peacefulness. It almost goes without saying that spontaneity is a wholly necessary quality. To express our values and preferences immediately, with commitment, and against the flow of the more programmed behaviour of normal people, then we need to maintain an impressive constancy of vitality. |
